Platinum-selling singer and rapper Chris Brown sounded pretty gloomy in some December 21st posts he made on his Instagram account. With the idiotic doomsday theories now behind, it is safe to say that the music star didn’t sound to happy on the day predicted to be the last on earth. The comments have now been deleted but not before portions of his quotes were retrieved. In the posts, Brown complained about the music industry and said he wants to leave this world after his next album Carpe Diem drops in 2013. Brown wrote:
“Real artists are an endangered species! This gimmick age is f*cking corny as f*ck! “After this album I wanna leave this planet. Be you but f*cking get credit for the work u do. Not becuz someone cosigns who knows absolutely nothing about music and culture!” (Rap Up)
Previous media reports did not clarify the motive for the emotional comment. However, it can proven that the music industry is a cut throat business, especially for artists who are signed to gigantic record companies. Often times, hard working artists get little credit for the work they do and even less of the payoff their albums generate to the record company. On the bright side, Chris Brown’s last album Fortune was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.
